The BMW Concept ActiveE that debuted at NAIAS 2010 has just made the jump from concept car to production-ready right in front of our very lenses today while on a commercial photo shoot!
Compared to the concept car, the production car gets more conventional wheels and tires, a different lower fascia, a new hood with some bumps towards the firewall and "E Drive" badges.
Testing
Much like Mini Cooper's "Mini E" program going on right now, BMW will introduce this electrified 1-series coupe to drivers in a few select markets. Metro New York, Southern California, Northern California and Boston have been chosen as the testing grounds.
100 mile
The ActiveE is said to have a range of about 100 mile per charge and be able to accelerate to 60mph in 8.5 seconds. A lithium-ion power-pack will propel the Bimmer to a top speed of 90mph.
