We were a bit surprised when we received these spyshots from our photographer in North-Sweden. These spyshots show us the all-new Hyundai Elantra which looks pretty much ready for production. And according to the latest rumours the car is indeed almost ready.
The market launch for the all-new Elantra is planned for the first quarter of 2011, but we can see the first official information later this year. The Elantra is completely new and despite all the camouflage we can clearly see a dynamic roofline which looks like the i40/Sonata. To create more space in the interior it looks like Hyundai strechted the wheelbase and shortened the front and rear overhangs.
Four cilinders
To compete in this segment Hyundai will mainly deliver four-cylinder engines. The entry-level is expected to be a 1.6 turbo engine with around 165 hp. We also expect a 2.0 liter 4-cilinder Theta-II engine. An six-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic transmission are expected.
2011
As told we expect the new Hyundai Elantra to debut this year. Sales will start in the first quarter of 2011. The car is developed for the US market and not for Europe.
